Annie Walker RGN BSc (Hons) MBAcC Lic Ac PGcertHE

Annie has 30 years experience as a healthcare professional. She has a BSc Honours degree in acupuncture and completed an internship in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Huang Zhou Hospital, China. Annie is both a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the British Acupuncture Council. With a Post Graduate qualification in Higher Education, she teaches Biomedicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York. She also holds a Post Graduate certificate in Accident & Emergency Nursing and is a member of the not for profit organisation North West Acupuncture Childbirth Team. She is one of the Directors of Acupuncture Works.

Areas of specialty
Annie's special interest is in Women's Health & Gynaecology, which she teaches from a biomedicine and Chinese medical perspectives. Her passion is to optimise women's health to balance the natural cycle, reduce difficult symptoms and to optimise natural fertility. Annie has vast experience in treating patients undergoing Assisted Reproductive Techniques and underpins research evidence in her treatments and lifestyle advice, whilst focussing on individual treatment goals.

Annie has more than 12 years experience of working with psychological and emotional difficulties, including addiction, depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol misuse, detoxification and withdrawal management. She is a member of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA UK) and has practised auricular (ear) acupuncture to treat addiction since 2001.

Annie has completed post graduate study in acupuncture for pregnancy and childbirth with the renowned Jani White. Obstetric training includes:

Annie has had positive outcomes for women she has treated during pregnancy to reduce nausea, pain, anxiety and to prepare for a more efficient labour.
Annie is experienced in treating women undergoing fertility treatment and fully understands Assisted Reproduction, IVF Protocols and the research endorsing pre and post Embryo Transfer acupuncture. She supports her patients along their journey to parenthood using evidence based and timely acupuncture with sensitive care.

Annie has been trained by the famous Dr Tan in treating pain using the Balance Technique. Here the area of pain is not needled directly but is mirrored in another part of the body. This technique is highly effective and can give instant relief.  She has also completed post-graduate training in facial acupuncture at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. Annie has studied Person Centred Counseling and is trained and experienced in active listening. She holds a non-judgmental attitude towards all her clients and embraces an unconditional positive regard.

John Gradwell BSc (Hons), SBRCP, Certificate Advanced Tui Na (Nanjing), ITEC

John is an experienced massage therapist and a qualified acupuncturist. Having practised and taught Swedish massage for many years he went to study Tui Na in Hong Kong with the renowned master of Tui Na Doctor Lee Chiu Chun. On returning to the UK, he studied for a BSc in acupuncture at Salford University, from where he graduated with honours. John has been in practice for more than 20 years. John was a clinical supervisor at Salford University and is currently supervising student acupuncturists on the BSc course at Manchester Metropolitan University.

John practises Classical Chinese Acupuncture based mainly upon The Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperors Internal Classic). This holistic approach incorporates the use of Yin Yang, The Five Elements, Channel Therapy and Vital Organs.  For many years he has researched the body, mind, connection and is particularly concerned to apply root treatments to stress induced conditions. Chinese medicine has been aware of body mind conditions and their treatments for several thousand years.   He currently teaches Tui Na and is the principal tutor of Tui Na Tuition North West.

Sandra Hirschfeldt BSc(Hons) TCM (Acupuncture),  MATCM,  Lic Ac

Sandra is a fully qualified and licensed Acupuncturist. She completed her BSc(Hons) Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) at the University of Salford in 2010 and is a full member of the ATCM  (The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Accupuncture). As part of her degree Sandra learned the technics of acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion and electroacupuncture. Since qualifying she has been helping and supporting people with various complaints ranging from

digestive disorders such as IBS,
muscular skeletal problems such as backpain,
nerve pain such as sciatica, facial pain, numbness;
headaches & migraines,
allergic rhinitis,
mental & emotional conditions such as anxiety, depression or panick attacks
fertility, IVF
sleep disorders
hormonal imbalances
such as menopause, PMS
or to simply de-stress and rebalancing oneself.

In addition Sandra's done various further training courses in different acupuncture technics such as scalp acupuncture, Dr Tan's Balancing Method, an introduction to Dr Dong's (Tung's)Points, acupuncture for depression, acupuncture for fertility & IVF and facial acupuncture. At the moment Sandra is undertaking a Tuina Diploma Course with John at Shulan College and a Diploma TCM Herbal Medicine with Mei Xing at Acuhealth.

 

Caroline Bellman MSc, BSc (Hons), MBAcC, Lic Ac

Caroline has over 15 years experience as a healthcare professional. She has a BSc Honours degree in acupuncture from the Northern College of Acupuncture as well as degrees in Clinical Forensic Psychology and Person-Centred Counselling. During her degree Caroline studied Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis, moxibustion, cupping, and treating musculoskeletal pain. Since qualifying Caroline has helped to support people with the conditions such as:

Digestive disorders
Mental Health problems
Skin problems

Headaches

Ear, Nose and
Throat problems

In addition to using acupuncture, Caroline’s holistic approach to healthcare extends to teaching mindfulness yoga outside of her acupuncture practice.

 
Lucy Campbell BSc(Hons), MBAcC, Lic Ac

Lucy is an accredited member of the British Acupuncture Council and has completed a three year degree in Acupuncture. She has a particular interest in addiction and is NADA (National Acupuncture Detox Association) trained.
She has had experience in treating stress, anxiety, menstruation disorders and IBS, and has completed post graduate training in
musculoskeletal disorders such as repetitive strain injury, shoulder, neck and back pain and arthritis.


Cat Morris BSc(Hons), MBAcC, Lic Ac

Cat is a fully qualified and licensed Acupuncturist. She completed her BSc(Hons) Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) at the northern college of acupuncture. As part of her degree learned the technics of acupuncture, the Five Elements, cupping, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, treating musculoskeletal pain disorders such as repetitive strain injury, shoulder, neck and back pain and arthritis and is NADA (National Acupuncture Detox Association) trained

Great news acu lovers

Acupuncture when used alongside IVF doubles the chances of pregnancy  - these results are from a study by Homerton University Hospital in London. 160 couples were divided into two groups. Pregnancy rates in the half receiving acupuncture were 46.2% against 21.7% in the half which did not. Stuart Lavery, consultant gynaecologist at Hammersmith Hospital said “There is a patient demand in the field of acupuncture  . . . and this study is interesting in that it shows a statistically significant difference."
